‘Matru Poorna Yojane to eradicate malnutrition’

Priyank Kharge, Minister for Information Technology and Bio-Technology and Tourism, has said that Matru Poorna Yojane was one of the prominent schemes introduced by the State government to eradicate malnutrition and ensure good health among pregnant women and lactating mothers.

He was speaking after inaugurating Matru Poorna Yojane in Yadgir on Monday on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

Other schemes

Mr. Kharge, who is also district in-charge Minister, said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had introduced many pro-people schemes such as Anna Bhagya, Ksheera Bhagya and now Matru Poorna Yojane, in which, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers would be given hot meals at Anganawadi centres across the State.

Apart from this, other benefits, such as counselling sessions on health and nutrition for pregnant women and nursing mothers and the periodic monitoring of weight of the pregnant women, will be extended, he said.

The Minister appealed to the pregnant women and lactating mothers to ensure they got the benefits properly.

Basareddy Malipatil Anapur, president, zilla panchayat; Manjunath J., Deputy Commissioner; Iada Martin Marbanaing, Superintendent of Police, and others were present.
