March by industrial workers marks National Safety Day

A safety march was taken out in Mysuru on Wednesday to mark National Safety Day.

Police Commissioner M.A. Saleem flagged off the march at Kalamandir here. The rally passed through Saraswathipuram Fire Brigade, Ramaswamy Circle, Metropole Circle and concluded at Kalamandir.

Hundreds of representatives from industries, factory workers and department officers joined the march. Mr. Saleem also marched with the participants to some distance.

A safety flag was hoisted at the venue by A.S. Lakshmanan, Chairman, National Safety Council, Karnataka chapter, and a safety oath was administered to the participants.

Safety equipment had been put on display at an exhibition at Kalamandir. Karnataka State Safety Institute recognises industries, which follow the best practices in safety management, by presenting safety awards. Awards were presented to industries and employees in various categories.
