Artist and activist K.T. Shivaprasad has said that though the country ratified the United Nation’s resolution on child rights in 1992, the Union government has done little to ensure that children are not deprived of their rights.

Speaking to presspersons here on Monday, Mr. Shivaprasad said that though the UN resolution talks about children till the age of 18, the Union government is implementing the Right to Education Act according to which all children aged between 6 and 14 have the right to education.

Mari Joseph, convener of the Dalit Vimochane Manava Hakkugala Vedike, alleged that many anganwadis in the district had no roof and children were being made to sit in dilapidated structures for studies.
