Manjula Manasa is Karnataka women’s panel chief

The government has appointed Manjula Manasa, an advocate and women’s rights activist, as chairperson of the Karnataka State Commission for Women. The post was vacant since March 2013.

Minister of State for Kannada and Culture Umashree announced this at a press conference here on Saturday. She said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had given his consent to Ms. Manasa’s appointment.

Sharada from Sakleshpur, Rafath Mateen from Bidar, Shyama Bhandari from Kundapur, Anitha Gunjal from Hubli, and Pushpa Lakshmanswamy and Suman Hegde from Bangalore are members of the commission.

The term of the chairperson and members would be for three years, she said.
