Residents in Mandya town will face a severe drinking water problem from Friday with the Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board (KUWSDB) deciding to supply water once in three days.
The KUWSDB has decided to do so due to frequent power cuts and shortage of water, KUWSDB Executive Engineer Madaiah told The Hindu here on Thursday. The population of the town, which has 35 wards, is around 1.50 lakh.
Shortfall
The town requires 30 MLD (million litres a day) water per day. But, the supply is only 19 MLD, he said.
According to the tanker-water suppliers, the demand for water has increased manifold in the town in the last two weeks owing to increase in temperature.
