Housing and district in-charge Minister M.H. Ambareesh on Tuesday night inaugurated the much-delayed son et lumiere (sound and light show) portraying the rise and fall of Tipu Sultan, in the backdrop of Tipu fort at Srirangapatna.

Mr. Ambareesh said the State government had massive plans to develop tourism places in Srirangapatna.

Fillip to tourism

The main aim of the project was to give a fillip to the tourism industry in Mandya.

The project was supposed to have been launched six years ago. However, it was delayed by various issues. The Department of Tourism and the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation have spent Rs. 3.24 crore on the project.

While film director T.S. Nagabharana is the creative director of the show, Innovative Lighting Systems Corp is the implementing agency.

Several politicians and dignitaries enjoyed the show on the inaugural day near Delhi Gate.
