A man killed his two younger brothers following a dispute over two hectares of farm land in Belagavi on Tuesday. Rasul Mulla (50), a farmer from Alarwad village in Belagavi taluk, fought with his brothers Ghouse Mulla (35) and Mohammad Mulla (40) and hacked them with a machete near Gandhi Nagar bridge in the city.

Rasul and Mohammad fought in the village over division of their ancestral property in the morning and Mohammad was injured. His two other brothers, Ghouse and Subhan, were taking him to Belagavi in an autorickshaw.

But Rasul followed them to the city, and continued the quarrel. He took out a machete and charged at his brothers and attacked Mohammad and Ghouse, who bled to death before reaching the hospital. Onlookers caught the accused and beat him up. Someone called the police control room and Rasul was arrested on the spot.

Stabbed to death

In an unrelated incident, M. Sharif of Sulebavi village was stabbed to death in the morning near the city corporation complex at Goaves. Tilakwadi Police have picked up one person for questioning in this connection.
