Local people thrashed and handed over a man to the police after he allegedly attempted to sexually assault an 18-year-old German national near Paneer church on the outskirts of the city on Saturday.
The accused has been identified as Mustafa, 19.
According to the police, the German national had come to the city on a 11-month visa to teach students in an NGO in Deralakatte. As she was walking past the church, Mustafa asked her to cooperate with him and touched her back. The girl raised an alarm and a few residents came to her rescue.
When Mustafa tried to escape, people chased and caught him. They allegedly beat him up before handing him over to the Konaje police.
