Man held for posting manipulated photo of Modi on social media

The Gangavati police in Koppal district on Monday arrested Mohammed Mehaboob (25) for posting a manipulated photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the social media network.

According to the police, Mehaboob had posted a photo showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi falling at the feet of Akbaruddin Owaisi, president of All-India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen and MLA in Telangana Legislative Assembly.

On seeing the picture on social media, irked BJP activists informed the police, besides urging them to initiate immediate action.

The police arrested Mehaboob, a resident of Gangavati and working in a jewellery shop.

The police also seized his cellphone and are interrogating Mehaboob, besides ascertaining whether he had created the photo or had received it through social media.

Based on a complaint by Manohargouda Herur, BJP city unit president, the police have registered a case.

Shivarame Gowda, former MP, Parappa Munwalli, former MLA, were among the leaders who had come to the police station.
