Uneasy calm prevails in Gokak taluk with Maharashtra's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) issuing notice to seven more youths to appear before the police in connection with the 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case.

Sources in district police told The Hindu here on Saturday that the ATS issued notice under Section 160 of the Cr.PC, which empowers the police to require attendance of witnesses during investigation.

The sources said the ATS issued summons to Sadashiv Gudagagol, Namdev Chikkurde, Girish Joshi, Vithal Gondhali, Vishwanath Kambar (all five from Gokak town), and Prakash Metri and Shivshankar Khanapure of Kalloli village in Gokak taluk. Sadashiv, Namdev and Girish appeared before the ATS in Mumbai recently and have returned home.

Vithal, Vishwanath and Prakash went along with the ATS team on Thursday night. The team arrived in Gokak as part of its continuing investigation into the Malegaon bomb blast case.

However, Shivashankar, who could not go immediately, is expected to go in a day or two on his own to appear before the ATS.
