Major water projects to be inaugurated next month: Minister

Minister for Water Resources and District In­charge, M.B. Patil said that next month, the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would be inaugurating the tank filling projects of Mamadapur, Bhutanal and Begum Talab of the district.

Addressing presspersons after participating in the Republic Day programme here on Monday, he said that the Chief Minister would also be launching the drip irrigation project of Tubachi-Babaleshwar during the same visit.

“These are one of the major water projects of the district. The Chief Minister is expected to arrive next month, the dates would be finalised shortly”, the Minister said.

With regard to the Navaraspur Utsav to be held on February 27, 28 and March 1 here, Mr. Patil said that the decision has been taken to organise the event annually without fail.

He said that for the last four years, the event could not be held for various reasons, however, this time it has been decided to make it a calendar event. “I have asked the Deputy Commissioner, D. Randeep to fix the dates ensuring that it does not clash with dates of any other similar event held in the State”, Mr. Patil said.

Earlier, addressing the large gathering after unfurling the national flag and receiving guard of honour, the Minister said that the government has agreed to carve 20 new Gram Panchayats in the district. The final notification in this regard was awaited.

He said that for developing tourism sector of the district, Rs. 1.7 crore would be spent for building a Tourist Plaza and Rs. 2.5 crore for providing basic facilities at the tourism spots of the district.

MLA, Makbul Bagwan, Mayor, Sajjadepeer Mushrif, ZP, President, Umesh Kolkur and other dignitaries were present.

Nominate Gol Gumbaz for next year’s Tableaux

District In­charge, M. B. Patil has instructed the Deputy Commissioner, D. Randeep to prepare the report for recommending the name of the historic, Gol Gumbaz to be presented as Karnataka Tableaux in the republic day parade next in Delhi.

He said that other monuments such as Ibrahim Roza could also be added in the list, which would help popularising the district’s heritage at global level.
