The following is a list of luxury apartments allotted by the Vyalikaval House Building Cooperative Society.
A 3,696-sq ft penthouse was sold to Davalagiri Property Developers Ltd. owned by the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa's son and son-in-law for Rs. 51,74,400 on June 16, 2010.
The allotment is illegal since it has been made to a firm and not a member of the society. It also violates section 6, 10 (c) and section 20 of the model bylaws for housing cooperatives issued by the Government.
A 2,201-sq ft apartment was sold to Shilpa Gowda, daughter of Labour Minister B.N. Bache Gowda for Rs. 30,81,400 on January 5, 2011. A 2,201 sq ft apartment was sold to Aravind B. Jatti, son of the former Vice-President late B.D. Jatti for Rs. 30,81,400.
The allotments are illegal as Ms. Shilpa Gowda and Mr. Jatti were admitted as members only at the time of sale even as other members were waiting.
A 2,206-sq ft apartment was sold to Vasundaradevi M. Ghorpade, wife of the former Minister M.Y. Ghorpade, for Rs. 85 lakh on April 21, 2011. A 3,054-sq ft apartment was sold to corporate honcho Panemangalore Surendra Pai for Rs. 42,75,600 on May 25, 2010.
The sale is illegal as they are not residents of Bangalore, a basic requirement for allotment. The sale deeds say that Ms. Ghorpade is a resident of Sandur in Bellary and Mr. Pai is a resident of Nungambakkam in Chennai. They were not members of the society and were admitted at the time of sale.
A 3,054-sq ft apartment was allotted to K. Suman, who is the society's advocate, for Rs. 65,82,860 on June 11, 2010. The allotment was illegal because he had been allotted a flat at another apartment complex constructed by the society at Malleswaram and a member cannot be allotted two properties by the society under Section 10 (a) of the bylaws.
