Adopting a “counter Modi” strategy, the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee is all geared up to announce the list of candidates for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls by December.
Announcing this at a press conference after a KPCC executive committee meeting here on Saturday, KPCC president G. Parameshwara said the strategy was to go to the people with the populist schemes of UPA I and UPA II, and the State government.
“There are several landmark people-friendly schemes implemented by the UPA in the country and the Congress government in the State. We will seek mandate by aggressively propagating these schemes and ensuring that they reach the people,” Dr. Parameshwara said.
He said a resolution stating that the government should gear up in terms of performance and be more aggressive in propagating its schemes was adopted at the meeting.
As part of the “counter Modi” strategy, the Congress has also decided to ensure that the Bharatiya Janata Party does not instigate communal disturbances in the State.
“We are not afraid of Mr. Modi. Instead, the BJP appears to be afraid of us. They are glorifying Mr. Modi and it is their internal matter. We are not worried about that aspect. We will counter it appropriately,” he said.
