Loss of vision has not dimmed their spirits. Raghavendra A.G. of Alur in Kudligi taluk in Ballari district and B. Thimmappa of Ballari were among the three visually impaired candidates who appeared for the gazetted probationary officers’ exam conducted by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) here on Sunday.
The two have a vision to serve the people. With that in mind, they were keen to pass the examination and assume a post with which they could achieve their goal. This is their first attempt. They wrote their papers with the help of scribes attached to them at a separate hall allotted to them in M B.S.L school in the city. The scribes, Narasimhamurthy and Dinesh Kumar, read out the questions and also the options and ticked the answer given by the candidate.
Mr. Raghavendra, who is also a newspaper agent, is a postgraduate in political science while Mr. Thimmappa is working as a First Division Assistant in Ballari district court.
“I am a social worker and I want to serve the society. For that I need a position and I can get it by passing the KPSC exam,” Mr. Raghavendra told The Hindu .
Earlier, Mr. Raghavendra had appeared for the online exams conducted by State Bank of India and other banks but could not succeed.
Mr. Thimmappa too, wants to help people.
