A person died on the spot and his son suffered injuries when a lorry, carrying stone slabs, turned turtle near Boovanahalli on the outskirts of Hassan on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Veeresh (45) of Nenavinakere in Tumkur district. His son Vinod suffered injuries.

They were riding on a two-wheeler, when a lorry passing next to them turned turtle. As stone slabs fell on the two-wheeler, Veeresh died on the spot.

Vinod has been admitted to a hospital for treatment. The Hassan traffic police have seized the lorry. They said the lorry was overloaded and this led to the accident.
