September 20, 2013 11:09 am | Updated June 02, 2016 01:42 pm IST - DHARWAD:

The Lokayukta will conduct an investigation into land denotification by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) for the Hubli airport.

Responding to a petition here on Wednesday, Lokayukta Y. Bhaskar Rao decided to issue a notice to the KIADB and assured the petitioner that the matter would be probed in detail. No official from KIADB was present.

Alleged

The petitioner alleged that the government did not provide proper compensation for land-losers. The government had issued notification to acquire 707 acres of land for the expansion of the airport. However, of the total acquired land, 64 acres of land was sold to private parties for a much higher rate, the petitioner alleged.
