Lokayukta officials have recovered property worth Rs. 82.46 lakh after raids in Vijayapura and Bagalkot on Friday.
The officials who have been found with money disproportionate to their known sources of earning are; Ishwarappa Dewar, Assistant Executive Engineer, Karnataka Town Water Supply and Sanitation Board, Vijayapura, and Mallappa Kandhare, Executive Engineer, Jewargi Bank Canal Division-2, Bhimarayangudi of Shahpur taluk in Yadgir district. During the raid, it was found that the total earning of Mr. Dewar is Rs. 37 lakh but his property was worth Rs. 75.86 lakh.
Among the immovable property, he has a two-storey building in Vivek Nagar (west) of Vijayapura city worth Rs. 35 lakh in his wife’s name and other sites in the name of his wife and children worth Rs. 19.45 lakh. The total immovable property is worth Rs. 54.45 lakh. In the list of movable property, the official is found to have possessed a car and three motorcycles, jewellery, bank deposits etc, to the tune of Rs. 21.41 lakh.
They have also seized Rs. 46.08 lakh worth of immovable property from the house/office of Mr. Kandhare. He has a house worth Rs. 40 lakh in Raghavendra colony of Jamkhandi town in Bagalkot district.
The worth of total movable property that includes two cars, jewelry, bank deposits and electronic goods is Rs. 88.22 lakh.
While his total earning is Rs. 42 lakh, his total property disproportionate to the assets is Rs. 66 lakh which is 157.68 per cent higher to his known sources of income, according to the release here.
