The Karnataka Lokayukta on Saturday raided eight officials from various departments and found assets worth Rs. 10.65 crore, which was disproportionate to their known sources of income.
H.N. Satyanarayana Rao, Additional Director-General of Police (Lokayukta), said 21 premises in Bangalore, Bidar, Belgaum, Chitradurga and Chickballapur were raided and cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act had been booked against the officials.
Those raided included five officials posted in Bangalore. Nagaraju, chief engineer, Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), Bangalore, was found to have assets worth Rs. 2 crore, 125.25 per cent more than his income. B.S. Narasimha Murthy, Assistant Engineer, Bangalore Development Authority, has assets worth Rs. 71.72 lakh, 239 per cent more than his income.
K.B. Ramakrishna Reddy, Assistant Executive Engineer, KSRTC head quarters, Bangalore, has assets worth Rs. 73 lakh, 116 per cent more than his income. Kalase Gowda, section officer, Education Department, Bangalore, has assets worth Rs. 65.45 lakh, 131 per cent more than his income. M.V. Vijay Kumar, AEE (Electrical), BDA, has assets worth Rs. 2 crore, 243.97 per cent more than his income.
V.G. Srinivasaiah, senior motor vehicle inspector, Chitradurga, has assets worth Rs. 2.63 crore, 277.68 per cent more than his income. Subhash Marakunde, Executive Engineer, Irrigation, Bidar, has assets worth Rs. 75.35 lakh, 110.81 percent more than his income. Vitthal Basappa Savadatti, Assistant Engineer, Hubli Electricity Supply Company, Belgaum, has assets worth Rs. 1 crore, 173.51 per cent more than his income. Mr. Satyanarayana said the bank accounts and lockers of the officials were being scrutinised and probe was on.
