The Lokayukta police on Friday conducted raids on 21 premises of seven government employees across the State and seized illegal assets valued at Rs. 4.5 crore from the accused.
After gathering information, the Lokayukta police carried out the raids in Bangalore, Bangalore Rural, Hubli, Gulbarga and Yadgir districts.
The seven employees include BBMP Executive Engineer A.K. Rangaiah, (Yelahanka division) Bangalore; Director of Karnataka Institute of Leather Technology, Bangalore, Chikkaiah; Inspector of Excise (Shantinagar) Bangalore, Krishna Murthy; Food Inspector (Yelahanka division) Bangalore, K. Prakash; Secretary of KSRTC Employees Credit Co-operative Society, Hubli, G. Prakashmurthy; Superintendent of RTO office, Gulbarga, Shivashankarappa Manoli; and Bandappa A., AEE and Project Director of District Urban Development Cell, Yadgir.
The Lokayukta police said that Shivashankarappa Manoli’s assets were 275.05 per cent disproportionate to his known sources of income. G. Prakash Murthy, Secretary of KSRTC Employees Credit Co-operative Society, Hubli, according to the Lokayukta police, had amassed assets 156.01 per cent disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Director of the Karnataka Institute of Leather Technology Chikkaiah had amassed assets worth Rs. 96.21 lakh. Cases were booked against the accused under Prevention of Corruption Act.
