Lokayukta directs DPI to fill all vacant teacher posts in schools

The Karnataka Lokayukta has taken suo motu cognisance of the vacant teacher posts in schools following a report carried in The Hindu , and directed the Department of Public Instruction to inspect all schools and ensure that all vacant teacher posts are filled. The Hindu had carried a report on May 18 regarding a couple of SSLC students requesting evaluators to give them passing marks as they had no teachers to teach them mathematics in their schools. Lokayukta Y. Bhaskar Rao has taken note of the report and directed the Commissioner of Public Instruction and the Director of Secondary Education Board to inspect each government school and ensure that teachers of all subjects are posted to all schools as per the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act.

The Lokayukta has asked the Department of Public Instruction to file the compliance report before June 30, said a press release issued by the Karnataka Lokayukta here on Sunday.
