Littering, spitting in Railway premises may cost you Rs. 500

Littering and spitting in Railway premises or using the toilet when the train on the platform can now cost you Rs. 500.

Rajkumar Lal, Divisional Railway Manager, Mysore Division, distributed pamphlets to passengers on various trains in Mysuru on Wednesday to create awareness on the need to maintain cleanliness in the Railway premises.

“We have penalised about 30 persons for contravening the Railway rules on cleanliness during the last two months”, said a Railway official in Mysuru.

The provisions of the Railway rules will be enforced against persons indulging in littering, spitting, urinating or feeding animals and birds in the railway premises.
