Rs. 2.5 lakh to be given to victim’s family as compensation

The Mangalore Electricity Supply Company has suspended Vishwanath, a lineman, on the charge of dereliction of duty, in connection with the electrocution of Sunil Babu (39), a farmer at Kappanahalli village in Shikaripur taluk, on Thursday, after he came in contact with a live wire in his farmland. The incident triggered a protest from the residents of the village. The police had to intervene and pacify the people. Rs. 2.5 lakh would be paid to victim’s family as compensation.
