Leopard run over by KSRTC bus

A three-year-old leopardess was run over by a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus near Chikkanahalli, on the Ramanagaram-Bannikuppe main road, in Ramanagaram district on Friday morning.

According to the Ramanagaram Rural Station police, the big cat was killed instantly when it tried to cross the road. The accident occurred at 6 a.m. The wild animal jumped and came under the left rear wheels of the bus, a KSRTC officer told The Hindu .

Following a complaint by the Forest Department officials, the Ramanagaram Rural Station police have registered a case. Police said they will question the driver. The leopard had died due to multiple injuries, forest officials said. They burnt the body after conducting the post-mortem examination on Friday afternoon.
