A leopard was found dead after it was trapped in a snare, suspected to be placed to catch wild boars at Akkalavadi near Konanuru in Arakalgud taluk on Tuesday.

A resident of the village noticed the carcass, which was already decaying, and informed the Forest Department officers.

The forest officers reached the spot and took the carcass for post-mortem. It was an eight-year-old male leopard. The officers burnt the carcass after the post-mortem. The reason for its death is yet to be known and officials are waiting the post-mortem report.
