Leopard caught, released into Kalkare forest

The Forest personnel of Bandipur National Park on Friday captured a five-year-old male leopard at Naganapura village of Nanjangud taluk.

Naganapura village is adjacent to the Omkar forest region, and the leopard killed domestic animals belonging to Nagamallappa. Villagers informed the Range Forest Officer of Omkar forest region Satish about the incident.

The Forest personnel inspected the spot and hatched a plan to capture the leopard by placing a dog in a cage as bait. Then, they shifted the bait to Malemahadeshwara temple near the village and the leopard was caught on .

Later, the leopard was set free at Kalkare range forest.
