State units of Left parties are jointly holding a public rally in Bangalore on Tuesday to project their alternative programme for addressing people’s issues and exposing the “real face” of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress.
Addressing presspersons here on Friday, State secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxists), G.V. Srirama Reddy, State secretary CPI P.V. Lokesh, and G.R. Shivashankar, State president, All India Forward Block, said CPI (M) Politburo member Brinda Karat and CPI leader D. Raja would address the rally to be held at Freedom Park.
Left parties have adopted a 10-point policy platform and have requested all democratic and secular forces to join them. The alternative programme of the Left parties include implementation of land reform measures, remunerative prices to farmers as recommended by the M.S. Swaminathan Commission Report, stepping up of public investment for infrastructure and setting up of manufacturing and other industries, Mr. Lokesh said.
Neo-liberal agenda
Mr. Reddy said there was hardly any difference between Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi when it comes to economic policies, as both have neo-liberal economic agenda.
Lad issue
Demanding the resignation of Minister of State for Infrastructure Santosh Lad, whose company is facing charges of illegal mining, he said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who carried out a padayatra from Bangalore to Bellary demanding a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation into illegal mining, should drop Mr. Lad from his ministry on moral grounds.
