Left parties make no mark

The Left parties which have not won a Lok Sabha seat in Karnataka so far, have continued with the trend and none of the parties have made a mark in the 2014 LS polls here .

G.V. Srirama Reddy, the State Secretary of Communist Party of India (Marxist), who contested from Chickballapur got 26,071 votes, highest for any Left party candidate in Karnataka and the fourth highest in the constituency. Yadav Shetty of the same party from Dakshina Kannada won 9,394 votes.

Vijaya Kumar, Communist Party of India (CPI) candidate from Udupi-Chikmagalur and H.K. Ramachandrappa from Davangere got 9,691 and 8,064 votes, respectively.

Among the six contestants from the Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist), the highest votes were won by A. Devadas in Bellary, who got 8,486 votes. Among the candidates of CPI(ML) Red Star, M. Nagaraj won 6,938 votes from Raichur. Among the candidates of CPI (ML) Liberation, Javaraiah won 1,593 votes from Chamarajnagar.
