A lecturer in the Malnad College of Engineering (MCE) in Hassan allegedly sent questions of an internal assessment test to a student through social network. The incident came to light on Monday when a few students shared the screenshots of the lecturer’s Facebook account with a local Kannada daily newspaper in Hassan.

Lokana Hassan, a lecturer in the Department of Computer Science in MCE, allegedly sent a message carrying questions for the Continuous Internal Evaluation test to Dixit Razdan, an eighth semester student. According to the screenshot, the message was sent to Razdan’s inbox on April 22, 2013, three days before the internal evaluation test held on April 25. The question paper for internal assessment test for maximum of 50 marks is generally framed by the faculty concerned.

As the screenshot of the Facebook page was published in a local newspaper on Tuesday, the news spread like wild fire in the college, one of the prestigious engineering colleges in the State. When The Hindu contacted M.V. Satyanarayana, principal of the college, he refused to respond to the development.

“The management of the college will issue a formal reply to media reports within a day or two. I can’t give you my reaction”, he said.
