Law will take its own course: Parameshwara

August 23, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 09:59 am IST - BENGALURU:

Denying the Opposition BJP’s allegations that the State government had given a “clean chit” to Amnesty International India (AII) before the end of investigations, Home Minister G. Parameshwara on Monday said probe was on and law would take its own course.

Dr. Parameshwara said he had not given a clean chit to the rights’ advocacy group, which has been booked for sedition for hosting an event where anti-India slogans were allegedly raised. “All I said is that I have not heard of AII being involved in any anti-national activity,” he said, adding that his remarks had been misinterpreted. He rejected the charge by some Union Ministers that the State government was protecting AII.

KPCC working president Dinesh Gundu Rao said the BJP and its students’ wing, ABVP, was “politicising” the row for political gains.
