Law books distributed

The Department of Social Welfare on Friday distributed law books to 15 fresh law graduates belonging to the SCs, STs under the Special Component Plan and Tribal Sub-plan for the year 2014-15. Each set of law books distributed was worth Rs. 20,000. In all 98 law graduates had applied from all the seven taluks of the district, of which 11 SCs four STs were selected. About Rs.3 lakh was sanctioned to the district under these two plans, according to M. Dyamappa, District Social Welfare Officer.

He also informed that for the year 2015-16, a sum of Rs. three lakh has been given to the district which would be used to distribute books to the selected from among the 67 lawyers who had already applied.
