The picturesque fort lake in the city is poised to become more attractive with the new addition of a fully operational Laser Tec Park-Floating Musical Fountain.

While the assembly of the musical fountain is in the last stages, the fabrication of the unit has been done by a Bengaluru-based manufacturer of musical fountains using laser technology. The Belagavi City Corporation (BCC), which had taken up the project with the funds available under the Chief Minister’s Special Fund and Junior Engineer M.V. Hiremath is presently overseeing its implementation.

Senior official sources at BCC attributed the project to the initiative taken by the Feroz N. Sait, MLA. The total cost of the unit is around Rs.1.67 crore, and would become functional after about a fortnight. The fabricator would be asked to take up the responsibility of maintenance of the musical fountain and also train local staff over a period of one year.

Also, the BCC is working out on facilitating a unique Restaurant at the lake premises.

The development at the lake site is a step further towards making the fort-lake attractive and beautiful, and boost tourism in the city. This comes close on the heels of the State government recently declaring the historical “Belgaum Fort” as State Heritage Monument, as per Section 4(3) of the Karnataka Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1961.
