H.D. Kumaraswamy, former Chief Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) leader, on Tuesday visited the state-run Mysore Sugar Company Ltd. (Mysugar) and accused the State government of neglecting sugarcane growers.

Mr. Kumaraswamy, accompanied by his supporters, visited the sugar mill and interacted with the cane suppliers.

He has urged the government to take up measures to develop the mill.

Interest of sugarcane growers

Earlier, the JD(S), Mandya, came down heavily against the Housing Minister M.H. Ambareesh for failing to safeguard the interests of sugarcane growers.

D. Ramesh, district JD(S) president, speaking to presspersons, said that the minister has completely failed to revive the state-run Mysore Sugar Company Ltd. (Mysugar).

According to Mr. Ramesh, the minister would always be surrounded by his supporters, whom the JD(S) leader described as ‘dancers’, and Mr. Ambareesh has not done anything for the revival of the factory.

Even the Minister for Cooperation and Sugar H.S. Mahadeva Prasad, who is also the chairman of the sugar mill, has not been taking measures to develop the mill, he said.

Protest

The party will stage a protest demonstration here on December 5 to urge the State government to solve the problems of sugarcane growers, he said.
