Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has sought time to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Water Resources Minister Nitin Gadkari to discuss issues pertaining to the formation of the Cauvery Management Board.

“Since the gazette notification has been done on the formation of the board, I have sought time with both the leaders to bring to their notice the concerns and problems faced by Karnataka,” he told reporters in New Delhi. He said Mr. Gadkari had given him an appointment on Monday afternoon.

On the issue of placing a supplementary budget, he said a Cabinet meeting would be convened where the issue would be discussed. “When new governments are formed, a budget is presented to present the government’s goal. There are problems in the State and both the parties [coalition partners Congress and JD(S)] have promised several things in the run-up to the elections. All these cannot be addressed in a supplementary budget,” he said.

Mr. Kumaraswamy also said that the coordination committee had been asked to give the common minimum programme for the government within 10 days.
