The former Chief Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy is likely to contest from the Chickballapur Lok Sabha constituency. An announcement from the party is expected on Thursday.

Speaking to presspersons here on Tuesday, Mr. Kumaraswamy said that he is in a dilemma as there is pressure on him to contest from Chickballapur, although initially he did not want to enter the electoral fray. Party workers had invited him to a convention in Chickballapur on Thursday, where they want him to announce his candidature. “But, I have to seek the consent of the people of Ramanagaram before taking a decision,” he said.

Noting that the party had listed three names for the constituency, including his wife Anitha Kumaraswamy, he said that if he had wanted to contest in the Lok Sabha polls, he would have opted for Bangalore Rural.
