The former Director-General of Police Jija Hari Singh on Monday charged the former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy with not allowing the Justice U.L. Bhat Commission of Inquiry to go into the allegations that he was involved in the Rs. 150-crore mining scandal and withdrawing the very constitution of the inquiry itself.
The commission was appointed to go into the bribery charge against Mr. Kumaraswamy and two of his Cabinet colleagues.
Speaking to reporters at the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee office, here after joining the Congress, the former DGP denied that she was involved in any mining scandals in Mysore Minerals Limited when she served as its Managing Director and said it was wrongly referred to Lokayukta.
The former Chief Conservator of Forests A.V. Naik, Janata Dal (Secular) leader C.R. Manohar, who was defeated in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Karnataka Government Employees Federation General Secretary Sachidananda Murthy and Mangalore University former Registrar Sundar Naik and their supporters also joined the party.
