Two former Chief Ministers H.D. Kumaraswamy and D.V. Sadananda Gowda, the former Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president B. Janardhana Poojary, the former Ministers B.N. Bache Gowda, Ramesh Jigajinagi, Ajaykumar Sarnaik and B.T. Lalitha Naik were among the 225 candidates who filed their nomination papers for the Lok Sabha elections on Wednesday, the last date for filing nomination papers. Scrutiny will be on Thursday.

Chief Electoral Officer Anil Kumar Jha told presspersons that while Mr. Kumaraswamy of the Janata Dal (Secular) and Mr. Bache Gowda of the BJP filed their nomination papers in Chickballapur constituency, Mr. Poojary of the Congress and MP Naveen Kumar Kateel of the BJP filed their papers in Dakshina Kannada constituency.

Mr. Sadananda Gowda of the BJP filed his in Bangalore North, Mr. Jigajinagi of the BJP in Bijapur, Mr. Sarnaik of the Congress in Bagalkot and Ms. Lalitha Naik of the Aam Aadmi Party filed hers in Gulbarga.

Prakash Hukkeri of the Congress filed his papers in Chikkodi. The former MP C. Narayanaswamy and Salim Ahmed, both from the Congress, filed their papers in Bangalore North and Haveri constituencies, respectively.

In all, 380 sets of nomination papers were filed on Wednesday, taking the total to 845. As many as 559 candidates are contesting the elections. However, the figures for Bangalore South Lok Sabha constituency are not available yet.
