KUDA Layout: panel to check for lapses

The Kalaburagi Urban Development Authority (KUDA) has taken a decision to constitute a committee, headed by Chairman of the KUDA, Mohammad Azgar Chulbul, and members from the Housing Board and Sub-Registrar office in Kalaburagi, to weed out applicants, who already own a house or residential plot and have applied for another one in the Atal Bhari Vajpayee Layout developed by the KUDA on the Kalaburagi-Jewargi National Highway in the outskirts of the city.

The general body meeting of the KUDA unanimously decided to take up the allotment of 1,679 residential plots of different sizes to eligible applicants through lottery.

The meeting was informed that as many as 12,383 applications were received for 1,679 sites.

However, the meeting did not agree to another proposal of not collecting installments from persons who have been allotted plots in the Vajpayee layout till the provisions of all amenities, including drinking water, drainage and electricity lines were completed.

Mr. Chulbul and Mr. Patil said that such a decision would deny the much-needed funds for development work in the layout.

The meeting also decided to form another committee to study the status of private layouts which were given permissions by KUDA earlier to form residential layouts.

When the proposal for giving permission to six private layouts in different parts of the city was placed before the meeting, members took exception to KUDA giving permission and wanted to know the fate of the private layouts, which have already been given permission.

Mr. Saradagi, who is also a former Chairman of the Urban Development Authority, said that the authority was empowered to cancel the permission to private layouts if they were not developed within two years from the date of giving permission.

The committee of the KUDA would study the status of all the private layouts sanctioned in the past three years and submit a report in the next general body meeting of the KUDA.
