January 25, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 08:27 am IST - HUBBALLI:

The Karnataka State Small Scale Industries Development Corporation (KSSIDC) plans to develop industrial estates across the State to generate jobs for about 10 lakh people in the next two years.

Addressing presspersons here on Saturday, KSSIDC chairman B. Gurappa Naidu said the plan was to develop industrial estates on around 3,000 acres of land and facilitate establishment of about 7,000 to 8,000 industrial units. He said that the KSSIDC was focussing on facilitating industrial development in the border areas to check the migration of workers to other States in search of job.

Work begins

Mr. Naidu said that the corporation had been allotted 870 acres for the development of industrial estates and work on an industrial estate had begun at Mangur in Chikkodi taluk of Belagavi district.

To a query, he said that the corporation was looking for 50 acres in Hubballi-Dharwad for establishing another industrial estate.

On the misuse of the land allotted for industrial development, Mr. Naidu said that notices had been issued to 27 firms.

Action would be taken if they failed to give a satisfactory reply, he said.

Regarding the irregualities in the allotment of sale of industrial land allotted at Peenya Industrial Estate in Bengaluru, he said a committee had been constituted to inquire into the issue.
