KSRTC gets Smart City India award

Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) was conferred with Smart City India award under the category of Smart Urban Mobility for its project ‘Intelligent Transport System’ introduced in Mysuru.

Sudhir Krishna (retd.) IAS, Secretary, Union Ministry of Urban Development presented the award. Intelligent Transport System (ITS) is a first-of-its-kind demonstrative project of the KSRTC supported by World Bank, Union Ministry of Urban Development and the State government and implemented for city buses in Mysuru.

500 buses covered

Over 500 buses, 105 bus shelters, 45 platforms, six bus terminals had been covered under the ITS incorporating smart technologies. Intelligent Transport System is a project which facilitates Vehicle Tracking System, Real Time Information System and MIS reports to improve quality and convenience of public transport system by ensuring the delivery of safe, fair, reliable and environment-friendly transport system, a release from KSRTC said here.
