KPSC to fill 452 Group A and B posts

The State Cabinet on Thursday decided to fill 452 Group A and B posts through the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) by issuing a fresh notification.

Briefing on the Cabinet decisions, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs T.B. Jayachandra said no age relaxation would be provided while filling the 452 vacancies. The posts will be filled according to the P.C. Hota Committee recommendations accepted by the government, he said.

About 15 days ago, the Karnataka Administrative Tribunal ordered the government to maintain status quo on its decision of cancelling the process of appointment to 362 posts of Group A and B gazetted probationer. The government, on August 14, cancelled the process of appointment following allegations of irregularities in the selection process. A decision was taken to formulate guidelines for premature release of prisoners sentenced to life. Section 432 of the Cr.PC would be amended and the guidelines would be submitted to the Supreme Court. A sum of Rs. 33.69 crore was sanctioned for constructing a bridge across the Hagari in Bellary and permission was granted to the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike to allot a plot of land at Basavanagudi to Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation for Rs. 1.75 crore.

B.N. Shankar, Deputy Director, Mines and Geology, has been posted to the Special Investigation Team, Karnataka Lokayukta. A decision was taken to clear two- and three-year-old pending files in the State Secretariat. The Cabinet has asked Mr. Jayachandra to study financial frauds committed by five cooperative banks in the State.

The Cabinet agreed to provide no-objection certificate to Sambhram Medical College, Kolar Gold Fields, East Point Medical College, Bangalore, and Kanachur Institute of Medical Science, Deralakatte, Mangalore, to start medical courses.
