Kolar jubilant after CBI probe order

The decision of State government for a CBI probe into the mysterious death of IAS officer D.K. Ravi has come as welcome news to the people of the district.

There have been protests in Kolar urging the government to initiate a CBI probe.

People burst crackers after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s announcement in the Assembly earlier today. Mr. Ravi was loved by all because of his work as Deputy Commissioner here. He also had to bear the wrath of several influential people for his upright stand against sand and land mafia.

Thousands took to the street in the district and a spontaneous ‘district bandh’ was observed to mourn the death and to demand a CBI inquiry in order to bring truth behind the mysterious death.

“The announcement by the Chief Minister on CBI probe is a victory to the struggles of people”, Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha leader K. Srinivasa Gowda said.

“The government should also initiate criminal proceedings against Kolar MLA Varthur Prakash for his alleged role in the transfer of Mr. Ravi as well as threatening a lower-rank officer as was exposed by a CD by former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy”, he urged.
