Kolar has potential for development: Minister

U.T. Khader, Health and Family Welfare and district in-charge Minister, said here on Sunday that Kolar had good potential for development due to its proximity to Bangalore.

The setting up of industrial areas at Narasapur and Vemgal in Kolar taluk has enhanced the scope for development as a number of major industries had started their units creating job opportunities, Mr. Khader said, while addressing Republic Day celebrations at the Sir M. Visvesvaraya District Stadium. Steps have been initiated to set up an automobile cluster in the region, he said.

The State government was committed to solving drinking water shortage in the region through the Yettinahole project and supplying water from west-flowing rivers, he added. Hurdles to the Yergol water project were cleared and this project will help supply drinking water, he said.

Deputy Commissioner D.K. Ravi, Superintendent of Police Ram Nivas Sepat, zilla panchayat president R. Narayanaswamy and Chief Executive Officer R. Vinod Priya were present.
