Kiosks near boothsto assist voters

The Election Commission will set up kiosks near polling booths on Sunday to issue voter’s slips and assist eligible voters to cast their votes.

Speaking to presspersons here on Thursday, Chief Electoral Officer Anil Kumar Jha said kiosks would be set up near polling booths in all 223 constituencies. Personnel at the kiosk would assist voters to find their names in the electoral rolls and issue slips to cast votes. Political parties would set up their desks at a distance of 100 metres from polling booths and assist voters, he said.

No debate on TV on Sunday

The CEO said news television channels have been prohibited from debating polling-related issues on Sunday which would change the voting pattern on the polling day. However, the channels could telecast percentage of polling, he said. “Analysis and debates on poling is strictly banned on the polling day till 5 p.m.,” he said.
