The Hassan police rescued the college student who was allegedly kidnapped by eight people on June 12. They have arrested two persons, while six are still absconding.

R.K. Shahapurwad, SP, Hassan, said the girl was kidnapped by Mohan, a resident of Paduvalahippe in Holenarasipur taluk. “We had formed teams to rescue the girl and nab the accused. Finally, we managed to trace her to Mandya on Thursday. Two people, including Mohan, the main accused, were arrested. Eight were involved in the incident. We are making efforts to arrest the remaining,” he said.

The girl, from Mysuru district, was studying in the government college at Paduvalahippe. While she was returning to her hostel after the annual examination on Monday, Mohan and others had forcibly taken her into a car and fled.

“The arrested have been remanded in to judicial custody. We have sought their police custody as we need details from them to arrest those who are absconding,” the SP added. It is said that the accused wanted to marry her.
