Karnataka Janata Paksha vice-president and former Minister K.H. Srinivasa has resigned from his post and from the primary membership of the party, expressing his displeasure over the decision of its president B.S. Yeddyurappa to join the Bharatiya Janata Party and to promote Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as its prime ministerial candidate.
In a letter to Mr. Yeddyurappa, he said the KJP had been reduced to a tool in his hands, and not an organised democratic regional party in the State. Recalling his opinion expressed in a meeting attended by the party working president Dhananjaya Kumar and secretary G.N. Hegde, he said he did not agree with the former Chief Minister on joining the National Democratic Alliance or the BJP.
