The Kannada Development Authority (KDA) has set a 15-day deadline for Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) Director Ram Rajasekharan to take necessary steps to reverse the “anti-Kannada” atmosphere in the premier central food technology institute in Mysuru.
KDA Chairman S.G. Siddaramaiah, who reviewed a meeting on implementation of Kannada in the central institute in the City on Tuesday, directed the CFTRI Director to meet him in Bengaluru before July 20 with details of the measures taken by him to set right the “lapses” in his administration, that included his alleged anti-Kannada actions and the suspension of two employees.
Though Prof Rajashekaran sought 45 days time for concluding an ongoing inquiry into suspension of the employees and the related issues, Prof Siddaramaiah and other Kannada litterateurs, who had accompanied him, denied the request.
The CFTRI Director said during the meeting that Kannada Souharda Balaga was closed on account of a directive issued by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) against permitting employees, including scientists, to start cultural organisations in the premises. In its place, a Kannada cell had been started to promote implementation of Kannada in administration, he said.
Prof Siddaramaiah was accompanied by Chandrashekar Patil, C.P. Krishnakumar, G.S. Bhagawan and editor of Andolana Rajashekar Koti.
