Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs T.B. Jayachandra on Thursday informed the Legislative Assembly that the government would file an impleading application on the K. Kasturirangan Committee report on the Western Ghats before the Green Bench of the Supreme Court at Chennai, which had given ten days time to do so.

He intervened to say this when Minister for Forests and Environment B. Ramanath Rai was replying to K.G. Bopaiah (BJP), saying that the Cabinet subcommittee, comprising of Mr. Jayachandra and himself, would discuss the issue in the evening. He assured the government that he would not take any decision without informing the House.

He said Kerala had witnessed a bandh and its legislature was seized of the matter and Maharashtra and Goa had followed suit.
