Karnataka Youth Congress threatens counter stir against BJP

October 23, 2013 01:23 pm | Updated 01:24 pm IST - Bangalore:

The Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (KPYCC) has condemned the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) plan to lay siege to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s home office, Krishna, on Wednesday.

In a statement, KPYCC president Rizwan Arshad has said that the BJP had no moral right to protest against illegal mining. “The Lokayukta report on illegal mining had revealed illegalities committed by BJP Ministers and their aides in Bellary... In such a scenario, the BJP has no moral right to make allegations other parties,” he said.

Demanding Information Minister Santosh Lad’s resignation for the alleged involvement of his partnership firm in illegal mining, the BJP has decided to hold a protest on Wednesday. In Bangalore, the protest will be led by the former Home Minister R. Ashok. Mr. Arshad alleged in the statement that it was under Mr. Ashok’s tenure as the Home Minister that illegal mining was allowed.

“If he stages a protest in front of Mr. Siddaramaiah’s home office, the Youth Congress will stage a protest in front of Mr. Ashok’s house and force him to confess about his wrong-doings before the people,” the statement said.
