Members of the Karnataka Rajya Raste Sarige Samsthegala Noukarara Federation have demanded that managements of the State-owned road transport corporations enter into an agreement with labour unions immediately on wage revision.
The federation has threatened to launch an agitation if action is not taken within 15 days.
Neglect
Federation’s honorary president S. Prasannakumar told presspersons here on Thursday that managements of State-owned transport corporations were neglecting the legitimate demands of employees in implementing wage revision which was due on January 1.
“The State government has implemented wage revision for its employees with a hike of over 22.5 per cent in salary apart from increase in other perks,” he said.
He asked why managements of transport corporations were hesitating to implement it.
Mr. Prasannakumar said that for the past 16 years the corporation managements had not consulted labour unions while implementing wage revision.
“Instead, they are taking unilateral decisions and announcing marginal hike in the wages,” Mr. Prasannakumar alleged.
He claimed that employees were being harassed at the workplace.
‘Forced hours’
“Forcible double duty, cut in wages as fines and harassment while sanctioning leave are common. There is no proper norm for sanctioning leave. Money plays a greater role here,” he alleged.
‘Anti-employee’
Asserting that the transfer policy was anti-employee, Mr. Prasannakumar said that employees were being harassed by transferring them from one depot to another for minor lapses.
