The Karnataka Rajya Raita Sangha (KRRS), a farmers’ body, has threatened that its members would stop paying electricity bill from next month if the State government failed to provide six hours a day uninterrupted three-phase power to rural areas.

KRRS General Secretary Basavarajappa told reporters in Shimoga that every person in the State utilising power was a consumer and a tax payer and there should be no discrimination.

Mr. Basavarajappa said instead of pointing fingers at the Centre, the State government should take steps to solve the power crisis.

Farmers were put to untold miseries due to non-availability of power, he rued.

Mr. Basavarajappa urged the government to lift “the unscientific” loadshedding as soon as possible.
